About the Illustrator
I was born in a small town and moved quite a bit as a young girl. My uncle, Allen, introduced me to oils and canvas when I was nine years old. I WAS HOOKED and loved it! I remember sitting on the sofa with a TV tray and painting a grey cat!
My grandmothers were so important in my life! When Holly showed me her story I was moved to tears relating to both of my grandmothers! My Grandma Hohman loved flowers and had gardens of poppies and anything that would grow…She showed me how to make poppy flower dolls using small pins. Grandma Schlosser had a HUGE vegetable garden and shared her green onions when we came for dinner…both of these grandmothers passed on to me the love of flowers and gardening. They were a big part of my life.
I continued to love the arts and worked in a flower shop through high school and college. I went on to get my Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of St. Francis. I currently teach elementary art and love painting with watercolors. I love for my art to evoke emotions. I try to leave a window of mystery…..a place for the observer to interpret what they feel when they look at my art. I am a very intuitive painter…what was planned isn’t set in stone; sometimes “mysteries” in the paint occur.
I plan to continue painting and learning until I am at least 991/2 years old! It is truly a passion!!!
